Aloo Dum Recipe: A Delicious and Easy-to-Make Potato Curry
Aloo dum is a popular Indian dish that is enjoyed by people of all ages. - Onion (1 medium-sized, finely chopped)
- Ginger paste (1 tablespoon)
- Garlic paste (1 tablespoon)
- Tomato puree (1/2 cup)
- Turmeric powder (1/2 teaspoon)
- Red chili powder (1 teaspoon)
- Coriander powder (1 teaspoon)
- Cumin powder (1 teaspoon)
- Garam masala powder (1/2 teaspoon)
- Salt (to taste)
- Water (1-2 cups)
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)
Instructions:
- Peel and cut the potatoes into small pieces. Wash them thoroughly and soak them in water for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves, and cardamom pods. Fry them for a few seconds until they become fragrant.
- Add the finely chopped onion and fry until it becomes golden brown.
- Add the ginger and garlic paste and fry for a few seconds until the raw smell goes away.
- Add the tomato puree and cook for a few minutes until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and fry for a few minutes until the masala is cooked.
- Add the potatoes and salt to taste. Mix well and fry for a few minutes until the potatoes are coated well with the masala.
- Add water (1-2 cups) and mix well. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook on low flame for 10-15 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, turn off the flame and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
